Homage to Threshold
Steel, wire, yarn, bricks, vent ducts
This piece explores what makes something a space. It asks questions of what makes us feel invited in or kept out, and what we are supposed to see and what is hidden in the walls of a building. It uses imagery of doors, walls, and gates that are ambiguous as to whether they are closed or open. The back brick wall is not completely solid, no longer protecting everything inside. The glass case contains the work, almost restricting it, but lets you see through and provides you with a key to enter.
